V International Almond Forum: A Journey Through Success Stories in the Almond Sector

Interempresas and Olint, in collaboration with CITA of Aragón and the University of Zaragoza, are organizing a new edition of this V International Almond Forum, which is a reference on sustainable almond cultivation and the keys to making it a profitable alternative in the current context

The Huesca Conference Center will host the fifth edition of the International Almond Forum on March 27. This initiative is driven by the Interempresas Group and Agromillora with the aim of providing quality information to almond cultivation professionals in the Iberian Peninsula. Once again, the Higher Polytechnic School of Huesca and the Center for Research and Agro-Food Technology of Aragón are actively collaborating in organizing the event.

The innovation surrounding almond cultivation in high-density production systems is one of the main advantages offered by this alternative, whose potential continues to grow. The implementation of almond cultivation in Spain is going through a stage of maturity, with acquired knowledge that allows better adjustment of crop management and more precise alignment of investments with expected returns.

An example of this increased professionalism around almond cultivation can be found in experiences such as those developed over the years at Finca Montserrat, in Raimat (Lleida), whose success story will serve as the guiding thread of the event. Thanks to the participation of its technical director, Xavier Planas, attendees will be able to learn firsthand the keys that have allowed this project to become a benchmark within the almond sector in Spain.

Throughout the event, the most important aspects that have marked the evolution of this farm since its inception will be revealed, detailing its management and the strategy employed, analyzing each agronomic stage, and presenting available technological solutions in areas such as fertilization, water resources, plant health, digitalization, and mechanization

The Huesca Conference Center will be the meeting point for almond professionals in Spain, where major producers, technicians, and marketers will analyze the current scenario, with market data and future perspectives. Additionally, a large group of experts will detail their strategic plan and mechanisms to increase almond consumption. Increasing productivity and reducing costs will be two of the major themes addressed, allowing exploration of the latest trends in technology and R&D.

One of the main attractions of the International Almond Forum is its training workshops, conducted by highly qualified professionals who share their knowledge on topics of special relevance to almond cultivation. These workshops prioritize small group dynamics and require prior registration.

This year, the organization has planned five workshops focused on aspects related to optimizing irrigation and fertilization in almond cultivation; AI and blockchain for profitable agriculture; the use of cover crops in almond cultivation; carbon credits in agriculture; and how to design a sustainable hedgerow almond plantation both economically and environmentally.
