New Plant Materials and Mother Plant

Introduction of New Plant Materials

Maintenance of Initial Material and establishment of Mother Plant in the field

Constitution of Initial Material in 'insect-proof' reservoirs

Any plant material intended for reproduction must have been verified for health and genetics and considered suitable for commercial propagation. It is from this moment that the Initial Material is established in the reservoirs enabled to maintain the plants under controlled cultivation conditions and isolated from the environment by insect-proof meshes.

These plants constitute the origin of any commercial production at AGROMILLORA, guaranteeing micropropagation laboratories a secure source of plant material for their ‘in vitro’ introductions. Similarly, the Initial Material of varieties also originates the Mother Plant of buds or cuttings located in the field.

The Research and Development Department and Quality are located in the Initial Materials Center, where the following activities are carried out:

Establishment of Agromillora Mother Plant fields

Optimal management of mother plant fields ensures the health and genetic quality of plant materials, as well as a good result of subsequent grafting and cutting processes.

A management based on five important factors:

1

The traceability of each of our plants.

2

The optimal crop management, paying attention to the nutritional status of the plant through monitoring and control of fertigation.

3

Integrated pest management, with exhaustive phytosanitary inspections.

4

The complete internal control plan, as well as the management of the requirements of local public administrations.

5

The best guarantee of selection of plant material from controlled origin.

We have mother plant fields of the varieties of interest distributed around the production facilities to guarantee maximum productive and qualitative quality.

These fields are inspected prior to selection, conducting the relevant phytosanitary and genetic analyses, according to the control plan adapted to each location.
