Morphological Characteristics
Medium-sized with profuse branching, short and very thin shoots. Abundant small, conical thorns, less than 1 cm in length. Young shoots are green.
Deciduous, mostly trifoliate, pale green. Central leaflet is 4 to 5 cm long and 1 to 1.5 cm wide. Lateral leaflets are 2 to 3.5 cm long and 0.5 to 1 cm wide. Petioles are slightly winged, 1.5 to 2 cm long.
White petals, spoon-shaped.
Slightly flattened, small, mandarin-like, maturing in November, turning orange. Average weight is 35-36 grams, diameter is 40-45 cm, and height is about 35 cm. The peel is thick with a slightly rough surface.
Abundant, polyembryonic, whitish, pointed at the micropyle, with a rounded brown chalaza.
Agronomic Characteristics
Resistant to tristeza virus.
More tolerant than Carrizo citrange to limestone, salinity, and waterlogging.
Resistant to citrus nematode Tylenchulus semipenetrans Cobb.
Good resistance to Phytophthora species.
Can be classified as semi-dwarfing to substandard. Trees grafted onto this rootstock are shorter than those grafted onto standard rootstocks currently used (Troyer and Carrizo citranges, Cleopatra mandarin, etc.). This size reduction is between 25% and 50%.
The graft and rootstock reach similar diameters at the union.
The productivity of grafted varieties is very high, and the fruit quality is excellent. Maturation is slightly earlier than that induced by Carrizo citrange.
